Travel on the route Timișoara Deva -– Orăştie - Sarmizegetusa - Hunedoara- Timișoara (500 km).
Description
The Dacian civilization represents the cultural expression of the end of the Iron Age within the Carpathian arch and in certain areas to the south and is bounded by these mountains. However, the most important, imposing, and monumental monuments erected in Dacia are present in a limited area, in southwest Transylvania. The presence of buildings with walls made of large stone blocks, in a Hellenistic style, in the mountainous area is surprising and testifies to the refinement of the Dacian kings and local aristocracy. The most important constructions are present at Gradistea Muncelului, identified with the ancient Sarmizegetusa Regia, the main destination of the excursion.
The program will also include a visit to Corvin Castle, an important monument of secular art with Gothic and Renaissance elements, in the city of Hunedoara. It is worth mentioning that it is considered "one of the seven wonders of Romania".

The site was investigated between 1965-1970 by a team led by Dragoslav Strejović, and among the most representative findings are the sculptures, considered to be the oldest examples of monumental plastic art in Europe.
