Bursaries/Grants

For the 20th UISPP World Congress organized in Timișoara (Romania) between 5–9 September 2023, two separate bursary schemes are available.*

     A.West University of Timișoara bursary scheme (with additional travel support made available courtesy of the UISPP)

A total number of 30 bursaries will be awarded according to the following structure:

     1. Full bursaries (15 bursaries)

  • Free registration
  • Free UISPP membership (for the 2023 –2026 cycle)
  • Free accommodation in university hall of residence**
  • Travel aid provided by the UISPP (see below for details)

     2. Partial bursaries (15 bursaries)
  • Free registration
  • Free UISPP membership (for the 2023 –2026 cycle)
  • Low-cost accommodation in university hall of residence**
  • Travel aid provided by the UISPP (see below for details)

Priority in this scheme will be given to applicants who experience real financial difficulties (e.g. colleagues from low-income economies, unemployed or retired colleagues), and who have submitted a paper or poster proposal of significant scientific interest.

Applications to this scheme will be assessed by a panel comprising the following members:

Dorel Micle (Associate Professor PhD, Universitatea de Vest din Timișoara / West University of Timişoara)

     B. UISPP bursary scheme

A number of 90 bursaries will be awarded by the UISPP, comprising:

  • Free registration
  • Free UISPP membership (for the 2023 –2026 cycle)
  • Free accommodation in university hall of residence**
  • Travel aid (see below for details)

Priority in this scheme will be given to postgraduate students (enroled in a PhD or postgraduate Masters programme at the time of their application; proof of student status must be provided with the application) who have submitted a paper or poster proposal of significant scientific interest.

Applications to this scheme will be assessed by a panel comprising the following members:

François Djindjian (Professor PhD, Université de Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, Paris)

Each application will be considered on its individual merits and in line with the criteria for the respective scheme. Only complete applications using the application form provided (see link at the bottom of this page) and submitted by the deadline of 30 June (Bucharest time zone) will be considered.

Travel aid details: For bursary holders from European countries, a travel aid to the maximum amount of 200 € will be made available upon submission of a copy of the relevant transport title (e.g. plane, train or bus ticket). In exceptional hardship cases and for bursary holders travelling from countries outside Europe, the panel may consider granting travel aid in excess of this amount. Bursary holders travelling by car or otherwise not in possession of a relevant transport title may claim a travel aid of 70 € following arrival at the congress in Timişoara. All awards are made at the sole discretion of the awarding panel.

* An applicant is only eligible to receive one grant, from either scheme, regardless of the number of sessions they organize and papers or posters they give.

** Accommodation will normally be in double-occupancy rooms. Requests for single occupancy will be considered subject to availability and at the discretion of the bursary panel, at a cost of 40 € per night, payable by the bursary holder.
